Paccione to Musgrave: “Marilyn, Give Back Disgraced Congressman Tom DeLay’s $30,000!”

(Fort Collins, CO)  Angie Paccione today again called for Marilyn Musgrave to return Tom DeLay’s dirty money or donate it to charity. Amidst scandal and corruption, DeLay today announced he would resign from the U.S. House of Representatives. Two of DeLay’s staff – Tony Rudy and Michael Scanlon – have pleaded guilty to corruption charges, and DeLay has been indicted and linked to criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

“Where is DeLay’s money?” asked Colorado State Representative, Angie Paccione, who is running against Marilyn Musgrave in the 4th Congressional District of Colorado. “DeLay’s PAC gave Musgrave $30,000. What did Marilyn do with it? Is she using it to run for public office? These contributions are directly linked to the corruption in Washington. She ought to give them back.”

Musgrave also received over $50,000 from PACs associated with Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham's co-conspirator, Brent Wilkes, whose company illegally received $76 million in defense contracts. Cunningham, a confessed criminal, resigned from Congress after admitting that he accepted $2.4 million in bribes.

Musgrave’s association with criminals in Congress falls in line with her being named one of the “13 most corrupt members of Congress” by the Center for Responsible Ethics in Washington. Despite all the links to corruption and dirty money, Musgrave refuses to acknowledge any wrong-doing and refuses to distance herself from the corruption.

“Other members of Congress have given DeLay’s and Cunninghams’s money back or donated it to charity. Why won’t Marilyn?” asked Angie Paccione. “The culture of corruption among Marilyn’s friends keeps spreading. It’s like a plague in Washington, and Marilyn Musgrave is linked to all of it.”
