Angie Paccione Calls on Musgrave to Return Bob Ney’s Tainted Money

With Ney’s pullout, Musgrave’s strong ties to corrupt special interests continue to unravel.

FORT COLLINS—State Rep. Angie Paccione today called on her opponent Marilyn Musgrave to return the $5,000 in tainted money she received from disgraced Congressman Bob Ney.

Ney announced today that he would not seek re-election, bowing to public pressure after convicted lobbyists Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon admitted to bribing Ney for political favors.

Musgrave has received $5,000 from Bob Ney’s American Liberty PAC.

“Marilyn has extensive ties to corrupt special interests, just follow the money,” Paccione said. “She’s one more link in the chain of corruption.”

Paccione called on Musgrave to return the $5,000 that Ney paid to her, along with the other $95,000 she’s received from other corrupt politicians and from convicted felons. Half of the $100,000 of Musgrave’s tainted money came from convicted former Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham and indicted former Congressman Tom “The Hammer” DeLay.

“Marilyn most likely won’t return her tainted special interest money, and she’ll continue to cave in to powerful politicians,” Paccione said. “That’s why the voters have to take charge and elect a principled leader who will stand up to the special interests and corrupt politicians.”
