Musgrave’s Culture of Corruption and Special Interests on Display in Loveland, CO
Musgrave’s guest, Speaker Hastert, is under investigation for corruption and his links to Jack Abramoff.
LOVELAND—House Speaker Dennis Hastert today appeared in Colorado for a fundraiser with Marilyn Musgrave, reaffirming Musgrave’s close links to crime, corruption, and special interests in Washington, D.C.
Hastert, under investigation for alleged illegal dealings with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff (see article here), and under scrutiny from watchdog groups for allegedly profiting from his votes (see article here), already has contributed $20,000 in tainted money to Musgrave through his leadership PAC. Musgrave so far has refused to return the tainted money.
State Rep. Angie Paccione, Musgrave’s opponent, said Hastert’s fundraising appearance with Musgrave sends the message that “corruption and special interests still have a tight grip on Congress.”
“All that will change this November, when voters choose to elect principled leaders to Congress, instead of politicians beholden to special interests,” Paccione said.
Paccione invited the public to visit the website SpecialInterestMarilyn.com for a detailed analysis of Musgrave’s ties to convicted criminals, corrupt politicians, and special interests.
“Follow the money trail,” Paccione said. “It all starts with special interests and ends with corrupt politicians like Dennis Hastert, Tom DeLay, Duke Cunningham, and Marilyn Musgrave.”
