CD-4 Race Officially a “Toss Up”
Latest polls, Cook Political Report rating show race in a dead heat.
FORT COLLINS—The Cook Political Report, a Washington, D.C. insider publication, has moved their rating for the Fourth Congressional District race from “lean Republican” to a “toss up,” the same day an independent poll was released showing State Rep. Angie Paccione in a dead heat with Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave.
The latest independent poll, released Monday by RT Strategies and Constituent Dynamics, shows Paccione with 48 percent to Musgrave’s 45 percent. Eric Eidsness takes 5 percent of the vote.
The poll has Paccione winning by the same margin as the previous poll, by Strategic Services, which showed Angie leading 45 to 42.
The Cook Political Report, seeing Paccione’s strong support from voters in the Fourth District, moved the race up in the ratings from “lean Republican” to a “toss up,” saying, “Finally, it would seem that voters of all ideological stripes feel that the GOP-lead Congress has become dysfunctional.”
Paccione welcomed the news as proof that principled leadership would win out on Election Day.
“Marilyn has caved in to the special interests and powerful politicians for the entire four years of her career,” Paccione said. “The Fourth District is ready for change, and I’m ready to bring it!”
